It never ceases to amaze me how important our interpersonal connections are.
Whether its in the office (relationships with co-workers or bosses), at home (with spouses and children) or in life (friends and family) - our successes and failures begin and end with our ability to maximize every enounter to its fullest potential. It's the great give and take of these moments that resonate with me time and again.
In the past few weeks, I've been able to see almost every corner of this fine country...from NYC, to Atlanta....and out west to San Francisco and Utah! It's amazing how The New Body Language is taking me so many places...and opening so many doors for those I meet!
This week I met with the most aaaaamazing group of foster parents at the Utah Foster Care Symposium. Such an amazingly dedicated group of people...I am in awe by their devotion to the children that so desperatly need more than the basic necessities - they need to connect, to love and to feel secure! We worked on techniques to do just that - instill a confidence in these children that will carry them throught their lives!
Pictured Left: Here I am discussing first impressions with Nate Berkus - a fave of mine...smart, informed...and not bad on the eyes either!
Wow...what a whirl wind week!
If you weren't convinced about the importance of being able to decipher body language...it's time to need to tune in!
Just this week, I have examined how body language affects a date (positively AND negatively) during a speed dating segment for The Today Show...sped over to The Nate Berkus Show to discuss how your non-verbals can make or break a job interview OR make you a target for a predator...then popped by 30 Rock to visit Dr. Oz and let the ladies know how to enhance their commuinication skils to get what they want out of their husbands.
Spending some much needed downtime this week with my family - enjoying a quick Disney cruise - and thinking of how AMAZING our BLI @ Sea program will be!
Haven't heard of BLI @ Sea? Just you wait!
Our team is hard at work hammering out the details...but, I can tell you that it will be an unforgettable experience! Jam packed with education, excitement and a vakay baby! We're determinging the destination, the instructors and the programs. Tell me, what's not to love about this idea?
Spring fever has hit me in a major way -- in more ways than one!
I'm traveling like crazy bringing humor, inspiration and valuable new skills to clients across America!
And a new round of media is getting ready to hit the airwaves...stay tuned for air dates for my latest segments for The Nate Berkus Show, The Doctor Oz Show and NBC's The Today Show!
To everyone I have met so far in 2011...keep on keepin' on! You all ROCK - I can't wait until we meet again!

Ahhh. January. How I love thee. Let me count the ways…my planner is blissfully unmarred. There are 11 more months before I even need to think about Christmas shopping. And six before bathing suit season. All of my bad habits are a memory in 2010…this year I will diet, not procrastinate, and be more gracious.
Yes, the time has come to once again make the transition to a new year. January (named for the two-headed Roman god Janus – he was able to look in two directions at once), is the literal and psychological moment we take stock of the outgoing year and resolve to make changes for the upcoming one.
So many popular resolutions stem from a desire to improve personal appearance. Sure, losing five pounds would be awesome…but did you know that you can spruce up your look with a few simple body language techniques?

Just for a quick second, imagine how ridiculously awesome your life would be if you were guaranteed to make a killer first impression with a high Perceived Value (PV) every time you walked into a room, sat around a boardroom table, or were face-to-face with a customer, loved one, or boss? Have you ever wanted to stop banging your head against the wall because the same choices that you made in 2010 and the year before that and the year before kept getting more of the same? Would you like to understand how your body language has stopped you from reaching that next level of success?
Casey Anthony has come back in the spotlight with her new video diary (I knew she wouldn't be gone for too long). She posted the first of "many" videos dated back in October, only a couple months after she was acquitted of the biggest murder trial since O.J. Simpson. In the video, Casey talks about her new computer, the dog she adopted recently (because that's so important) and feeling like she has some sort of control again. Since the video has surfaced, one of her attorney's has confirmed that someone "illegally contained it and has leaked it". Really? Because if so, how opportune for her to be reintroduced to the public as she will soon be getting off of probation.
Happy Holidays, everyone! Without further ado, I give you the "Twelve Days of Body Language Christmas":
On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me.
12 Eyebrows Lifting - Raised eyebrows are a good indication of surprise. Keep in mind, a true look of surprise only lasts a few seconds before fading into another expression (hopefully happiness). You'll know that special someone figured out what you were getting them if their eyebrows stay up too long!
While the holidays are supposed to be the season for food, fellowship, and fun, they can be tense times too. You may find yourself forced to spend time with relatives you rarely see and often fight with, but fear not! There are a few body language tactics can you use to fend off family feuds.
. Avoid Direct Confrontation - First of all, you want to stay to the side of people that could cause conflicts. Being face to face puts you in an adversarial position and increases stress levels. If you've got a history of bickering with your brother at a holiday meal, make sure you sit to one side of him rather than directly across.
